All flights to and from Ljubljana are operated through the Jože Pučnik Ljubljana Airport, which is located at 25 km from the Ljubljana city centre. The best way to get from the Ljubljana Airport to the city is by bus or shuttle service (see below)
There are aslo a few neighbouring airports which might offer better connections:
Graz Airport, Austria (190 km from Ljubljana)

Trieste Airport, Italy (130 km from Ljubljana)

Slovenia is well connected with roads and Ljubljana can be easily accesible by the motorway. Driving on the motorways requries the purchase of a vinegette, which come in a weekly, monthly and yearly option. These can be purchased on any petrol station before crossing the border into Slovenia. Check here for more.
Ljubljana has a modern and efficient road system, with dense traffic during rush hours (around 7.30-9:00 and 15:00-17:00) and light traffic in most of the other times of day. The city center is closed for traffic. Public parking in the city is payable. Some hotels offer their own garages or parking spaces.
By rail or bus
There are regular train connections to several countries around Europe. For more information about international and local train timetables consult the Slovenian Railways web site.
The Ljubljana Bus Station has regular services to all Slovenia’s neighbouring countries and the most popular tourist destinations within the country (Bled and Bohinj, Postojna Cave, the coastal towns of Portorož and Piran). Check here for timetables.
We are currently negotiating with several hotels in Ljubljana to prebook a limited number of rooms. Please check back soon for a list of recommended hotels.
Getting around in Ljubljana
Ljubljana is a rather small city and easy to get around. The public city bus network makes it easy to travel within the city. The city lines connec all districts, which run according to regular schedules throughout the day. A smart card, Urbana (also available as mobile app), has to be purchased before the use of public transport.
Urbana card can also be used to use the city bike sharing system BicikeLJ. Getting around by bike is the most efficient and often pleasent mode of travel in the city.
Ljubljana also has a well organised taxi service, which is not exceedingly expensive. There are fixed spots in the city where taxis are stationed, or they can be ordered by telephone or via mobile apps.
